Introducing Steve Green as the New Chairman of The Bishop Suter Trust

The Bishop Suter Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Green as its new Chairman. Steve brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the arts to his new role, following in the footsteps of the esteemed Craig Potton, who will continue to contribute his expertise to the Trust.

Returning to Nelson five years ago, Steve Green and his wife, Barbara, found themselves drawn back to the place they had once called home, after selling their vineyard and winery in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Steve's diverse background encompasses both local government management, having served as a CEO for councils in Hawkes Bay and Otago, as well as an accomplished tenure in the wine industry. As the former Chair of New Zealand Winegrowers, the industry body representing growers and winemakers nationwide, he continues to maintain a keen interest in the wine sector as a Company Director.

Steve's passion for the visual arts has been a lifelong pursuit, demonstrated through his extensive involvement in collaborative projects with artists across New Zealand. Notably, he has fostered long-term partnerships between artists and a Central Otago Charitable Trust, showcasing his dedication to supporting the arts community. In addition to his involvement with various artistic endeavours, Steve has a personal affinity for ceramics and a particular interest in abstract art.

Having been appointed to the Trust in 2021, Steve Green assumes the role of Chairman with gratitude for the exceptional foundation laid by Craig Potton during his tenure. Fortunately, Craig will continue to be actively involved with The Bishop Suter Trust, offering his invaluable knowledge, experience, and deep understanding of the arts.

Under Steve Green's leadership, the Trust looks forward to building upon its already impressive legacy of supporting and promoting the arts in Nelson and beyond.
