McGlashen Pottery Enters a New Era – Now Stocked at The Suter Store
/The Suter Art Gallery is proud to continue stocking the ever-popular McGlashen Pottery, now under the skilled hands and fresh vision of new owners Coral Denize and Josh Jones. This marks a new chapter for one of Aotearoa’s most iconic ceramic brands, while staying true to the legacy established by master potter Royce McGlashen.
For nearly 60 years, Royce has been at the forefront of New Zealand ceramics, producing functional and beautiful pottery pieces that have become treasured in homes and galleries nationwide. His signature forms and glazes have made McGlashen Pottery a beloved name—and a firm favourite among visitors to The Suter Store.

Now, with Royce’s retirement, the McGlashen name is in safe and passionate hands. Coral and Josh, a young couple from Christchurch, have taken the bold step of selling their home and leaving their day jobs to pursue a full-time career in pottery. With the guidance and ongoing support of Royce and his partner Trudi, they are committed to honouring the McGlashen brand while bringing fresh energy to its future.
"It’s hard to convey how excited we are," say Coral and Josh. "But we hope it will show in how we represent the McGlashen name and honour the quality brand that Royce and Trudi have built up over the years."
From 1 March 2025, Coral and Josh officially took over McGlashen Pottery. The early months will focus on rebuilding stock levels and refining the production of the most popular McGlashen shapes and glazes. Their first priority is to ensure quality and continuity—particularly of the 15 top-selling items, including classic dinnerware and signature pieces.
At The Suter Store, we are delighted to support this transition and will continue to stock McGlashen Pottery throughout 2025 and beyond. The first restock is expected in April 2025, with familiar fan favourites returning to our shelves—perfect for collectors, gift-buyers, or anyone who appreciates New Zealand-made design.
You can find a curated selection of McGlashen Pottery at The Suter Store, located within The Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatū, Nelson. Every purchase supports both the artists and The Suter's work as a not-for-profit gallery.
