Erika Heidi
Erika Heidi Design is a boutique jewellery brand based in Nelson, New Zealand. Heidi, the founder and designer, has been making jewellery since she was 18, and has travelled the world honing her craft. She offers a range of handcrafted earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces, as well as repair services.
Georgina Hoby Scutt
With a background in print and pattern design, Georgina creates joyful paintings with expressive brushstrokes and distinctive colours. She is a Colourist who draws inspiration from abstract expressionism, gesturalism, the Fauves, and Mid-Century British art. Her work is lightly abstracted and loosely figurative. She paints with an intuitive and exploratory approach.
Kirsten Boswijk
Kirsten Boswijk is a ceramic artist who graduated from NMIT in 2010. She learned the craft from her mother Christine Boswijk, a renowned ceramicist who has been her mentor and supporter. Her practice includes a range of slip-cast and hand carved domestic-ware inspired by flowers, and a series of hand built works inspired by the unique birds of New Zealand.
Katie Gold
Katie Gold is a Wairarapa-born ceramic artist who studied craft design in Nelson. She creates vibrant and unique pieces by rolling, weaving and overlapping clay, inspired by the natural beauty of New Zealand. Her works have been exhibited in over 300 shows. She lives and works in Upper Moutere with fellow ceramicist Owen Bartlett.
Esther McNaughton
Esther has been passionate about pottery since she first touched clay, learning from renowned Māori artist Cath Brown and skilled potter Ross Richards. She studied ceramics at Nelson Polytech and Otago Polytechnic, developing her own range of mid-range glazes. She makes beautiful and useful domestic ware, inspired by the joy of everyday living.
Höglund Glass
Ola Höglund and Marie Simberg-Höglund are a married couple who have been creating world-class glass artwork for nearly 50 years. Their art-glass, which includes blown perfume bottles, vases, goblets, paperweights, platters and bowls, is inspired by colour, pattern, texture and the earth’s vibrant energy. They are internationally renowned and highly sought after by collectors.
Michelle Bellamy
Michelle is a contemporary landscape painter who has been a full-time artist for over 10 years. She combines design and illustration in her paintings, which capture the clarity and colour of New Zealand’s light. She uses acrylic paint to create extraordinary scenes of the water’s edge, featuring the iconic bach and boathouses of the country.
Sue Newitt
Sue is a potter who has been working with clay since the late 1970s. She studied at Otago Polytechnic Art School and now lives and works near Nelson. She makes domestic pottery on the wheel, as well as porcelain and stoneware pieces. She is always learning and evolving her practice, which she finds interesting and fascinating. She aims to create work that people enjoy in their homes and everyday life.
Mike Ward
Mike Ward is a multifaceted artist who graduated from Elam Art School in 1968 as a sculptor and jeweller. He is also an adventurer, a former teacher, and an occasional politician. He makes lovely stuff, from sculptures and illustrations to festoonery fine and frivolous. He participates in the World of Wearable Art Awards and sells his work at the Nelson Saturday Market. He also designed Nelson’s manhole covers.
