The Suter Art Gallery’s Tasman ArtWalk has now expanded across the Tasman region, with installations in Richmond, Motueka, Tākaka, and Murchison.
Building on the success of the Nelson City Centre ArtWalk project by Make/Shift Spaces, this regional expansion brings art beyond gallery walls and into the heart of communities — transforming streetscapes with striking reproductions from The Suter’s permanent collection.
The Tasman ArtWalk is a visual journey through stories of our region: the people, the landscapes, the history, and the creativity that make Tasman unique. Artworks by renowned artists such as Leo Bensemann, Toss Woollaston, Sally Burton, Irvine Major, and many more have been reproduced at large scale and installed on walls throughout town centres.
“I think this is one of the most innovative ideas to come across my desk. I look forward to seeing these major artworks displayed on the walls of Richmond and eventually Motueka, Māpua, Tākaka and beyond”
These artworks aren’t painted directly onto buildings; instead, they’re printed onto durable aluminium panels and securely mounted, creating a high-quality, outdoor public exhibition that will be enjoyed for years to come.
The Suter’s Tasman ArtWalk is designed to make art part of daily life, sparking curiosity and conversation among locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re walking down Queen Street in Richmond, exploring the streets of Motueka, passing through Tākaka, or visiting Murchison, you’ll encounter beautiful and thought-provoking works that celebrate the region.

We are deeply grateful to the property owners, tenants, and community supporters who have made this project possible. Their generosity has allowed us to bring art to public spaces, creating an inspiring cultural experience for everyone.
Thank You.
