Robin Slow, Brian Flintoff, Bob Bickerton
AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND
The premiere live performance of the music created for the Ngā Hau Ngākau collaborative exhibition, currently showing at The Suter Art Gallery until October. The exhibition features paintings by Robin Slow, carvings by Brian Flintoff and video production by Bob Bickerton.
The music serves as an accompaniment to a video collage of images from the exhibition. In doing so, it leads the listener inside the paintings and carvings, alluding to stories of old, revealing new layers of experience. It moves between the visual dimensions, touching on stories from the paintings and carvings and inferring new connections to be explored.
Featuring waiata sung by Ariana Tikao and Holly Tikao-Weir, and taonga pūoro played by Bob Bickerton and Solomon Rahui, the performance will conclude with a question and answer session with all the artists.
No latecomers, please.
