"White is all colours: Colour Stories and Meaning"

"All colour is white: today more white pigment is sold than any other colour, yet we can see around us many more colours than any generation before us.  It's not because we are physiologically more advanced but the range of colours available to us has increased exponentially.  I will tell stories about pigments and dyes through history, colour theories and the cultural significance and use of colours".

"White - the distillation of modernism is art"

This lecture is based on the following statement by 20th century painter Kazimir Malevich (1878-1935):
"I have broken the blue boundary of colour limits, come out into the white; beside me comrade-pilots swim in this infinity.  I have established the semaphore of Suprematism.  I have beaten the lining of the coloured sky, torn it away and in the sack that formed itself, I have put colour and knotted it.  Swim!  The free white sea, infinity, lies before you".
