Students from schools around the Nelson region flocked to see Anne Rush's exhibition arum: a
white room. After exploring the exhibition, the students discussed their memories about
things in their lives now gone. The students then made flowers in memory of these things and
hung them on a specially built 'wall of rememebering' in The Suter's courtyard.
Dedications have been made to pets, houses, kindergarten teachers, family members, home countries
and more. The project has enabled students to bring an important part of their inner selves into
their daily lives. Aligned with the nature of the project, the materials students used are
recycled milk bottles and plastic bags. As things lost have another life in our memories, so do
these used materials get remade as art.
