The Suter Theatre is suitable for cinema, live performances, lectures and meetings.

The theatre regularly functions as a cinema with world class films screened by Nelson Film Society and State Cinemas.

    Size cinema screen
    16 and 35mm movie and video projection
    Full Dolby stereo
    12 x 6 meter stage   
    Air conditioned/ heated auditorium
    Theatre lobby refreshment area
    Mobile ticketing desk
    Lectern, tables, chairs, easel white board, data projector.

Other equipment can be sourced on request.



The Nelson Film Society 
Films screen on Thursday evenings, starting at 6 p.m., there may be times that Film Society will have to switch to the State Cinema. Times for each screening will be notified in The Nelson Evening Mail on Wednesday. Please check, that the venue has not changed.

Most of the society’s movies are booked on a ‘non theatrical rights’ basis and so must only be screened to people who are members. To become a member please click here.
