School Holiday Workshop: Connected Ecologies

Rose Shepard, An Erroneous Concept, 2017

Rose Shepard, An Erroneous Concept, 2017

In this school holiday workshop Nelson artist Rose Shepard will help children connect the unique ecologies of Dusky Sound and Abel Tasman.

Rose will take participants through the exhibition Tamatea: Art and Conservation in Dusky Sound with emphasis on Jo Ogier’s work Dusky Sound/Tamatea 2015-16. Rose will then work with participants to make observational drawings on native birds and plants from Abel Tasman National Park. Through the intimate act of drawing, comprehension of the intricacies of the flora and fauna found in the park can be better understood and appreciated.

At the conclusion of the workshop the drawings will be used to create a mosaic similar to Ogier’s work and will be mounted outside of the Original Gallery in which Tamatea is on show.
